What We Do

The largest and most diverse tug & barge company on Canada’s West Coast

With over 130 years of experience navigating in some of the world’s most complex and difficult waters, Seaspan Marine is the largest and most diverse tug & barge company on Canada’s West Coast.

Seaspan has industry-leading safety systems and the best safety performance in the industry. We train and test our mariners extensively, partnering with Seaways Global to provide intensive classroom and hands-on instruction using our in-house state-of-the art tugboat simulators. Whether gently docking ships or rapidly executing emergency maneuvers, our mariners know exactly what to do and they do it right, every time.

Our Services

Our services include Ship Docking, Tanker Escort & Emergency Towing and Tug & Barge Services. We also offer ship bunkering and ship building & repair through our affiliated companies. Seaspan Marine has over 30 tugboats and the most modern, powerful fleet on Canada’s West Coast. Our extensive fleet of over 100 specialty and general-purpose barges provide critical transportation for many of BC’s largest industries and major marine construction projects, delivering safe, reliable and on-time service, every time.

Seaspan Marine Case Studies

Dynamic Beast

Our Responsibility

Supporting the people, communities and natural environment where we work

Seaspan works hard to minimize our impact on the environment. We are members of the Green Marine industry coalition and are multi-time award winners of the Port of Vancouver’s Blue Circle award for environmental excellence. We have adopted Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) and/or bio-fuels in all our vessels, have bilge water treatment systems and are investing in new technologies like Canada’s first battery/electric hybrid tugboats. Seaspan also gives back to the communities we operate in. We partner with many indigenous communities, and generously contribute to not-for-profit organizations that support the people, communities and natural environment where we work.
