Seaspan Marine Transportation Announces Senior Leadership Changes

North Vancouver, BC – Seaspan Marine Transportation (SMT) announces changes to the senior leadership team following organizational restructuring.

Frank Butzelaar, who most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of SMT (a Washington Company), has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer of the Washington Companies.  Frank will work closely with Larry Simkins, CEO of the Washington Companies, and oversee the strategic direction of Montana Rail Link (MRL), Seaspan Marine Transportation (SMT) and Southern Railway of British Columbia (SRY).

Ian McIver, previously Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, has been appointed President, SMT. Ian will be accountable for the overall operations and performance with a strong focus on safety, stakeholder relations and customer service excellence. Since joining SMT in March 2018, Ian has been the lead on strategic initiatives and an integral member of the leadership team, helping to define, develop and execute long-term corporate goals and objectives.

Gord Miller, previously Vice President, Seaspan Ferries, will become Chief Operating Officer, SMT. Gord will be responsible for the safety and management of the day-to-day operations. He will focus on establishing long-term plans for the business in line with the company’s strategic plan, fulfilling revenue targets and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
