Captain Doug Towill Captain Doug Towill joined predecessor company CH Cates & Sons Ltd., in 1987 as Operations Manager, was appointed Vice President and General Manager in 1996 and in 1999 became Vice President, Marine Transportation Services for the newly merged Marine Division of Seaspan. He started his seagoing career at Rivtow Straits and quickly gained his seatime and obtained both a Watchkeeping Mates and Command Endorsement Certificate in 1978. Doug served as Master at Rivtow for 5 years before going ashore as Business Agent for the Canadian Merchant Service Guild. He graduated from the Banff School of Advanced Management in 1998.

As Vice President, Marine Transportation Services, Doug is responsible for the commercial divisions of the tug and barge business which includes customer contracts, and sales and marketing.
