Seaspan Shipyards – CEO message to employees – Focus on employee health and well-being

To: All Seaspan Shipyards employees
March 16, 2020

Team,
I understand the anxiety and uncertainty we’re all experiencing as we manage through the unprecedented and accelerating measures being implemented in BC and across the country to stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

A lot has happened quickly, both at work and at home. I know how tough it’s been for employees and their families to juggle daily changes to daycare, school and other program schedules, check on parents and relatives, and rearrange plans, especially in the March break period.

I want to reassure you that we are putting the full force of Seaspan toward supporting our employees and keeping our teams safe and healthy. We are following every precaution and preventive measure recommended by the relevant health authorities. And, as you’ve seen with the most recent update from HR, we are implementing a [email protected] email address to direct any medical questions you may have to a team of medical professionals contracted by Seaspan.

Our COVID-19 response committee continues to monitor developments closely, including the daily updates by the federal and provincial governments, and will take decisive action as required. You can expect us to update you in real time and as often as needed.

I know you will be vigilant about your health and that of your teams. Each of us has a constructive role to play in reducing the risk of transmission at work, in our community, and in our personal lives. If you need support, please reach out to your manager and let us know how we can help. Anyone with special circumstances or hardship as a result of COVID-19 should also speak with their manager.

Thank you for all you are doing now and will do in the days ahead to help us run the business and keep our momentum going through the current challenge. Above all, thank you for supporting each other and helping us protect our people.

Chief Executive Officer, Seaspan Shipyards
