COVID-19 close contact at VDC

Team,

There has been a positive case of COVID-19 reported at VDC. The individual was last at work on Friday, December 4. They experienced symptoms on the weekend and took a COVID-19 test, and received the positive results on Tuesday, December 8. The individual notified Wellness immediately, and through contact tracing with Public Health, two employees were identified and informed of their potential exposure through close contact. Cleaning and sanitizing of any areas the individual used has also been completed.

The individual acted promptly to inform Wellness, and we wish them well in their recovery as they self-isolate at home. I would like to emphasize that the individual correctly wore a mask while on site and maintained physical distance with other co-workers.

We know mask wearing and physical distancing are two of the simplest and most effective ways to limit the spread of COVID-19. As we approach the festive holidays, please be extra vigilant with your actions while you are around your colleagues, keeping your distance of at least 6 feet – especially when your mask is removed for consuming food or beverages. Do speak up if you feel others are too close to you, or if you think a co-worker is not taking the correct and necessary precautions to stay safe. By protecting those around us in this way we can all look forward to a healthy Christmas break.

As shown in today’s reported case, quick action when you are experiencing any symptoms is essential. Stay home, advise your supervisor and seek appropriate medical attention. If you are concerned or have any questions, please contact Tina Craig, Manager of Seaspan Wellness (w: 604-990-3316; c: 778-874-4438; e: wellness@seaspan.com).

Let’s continue to keep each other safe for the festive season.
