COVID-19 cases at VDC and VSY

Team,

An employee at VDC has tested positive for COVID-19, and another employee at VSY has also tested positive.

At both locations the individuals last worked on Friday, August 13. Our contact tracing process has indicated there were no close contacts in either case, and there was minimal risk to other employees as the individuals worked either alone or were at a safe distance from coworkers throughout the day and during break times. They are now isolating at their homes and we wish them well in their respective recoveries.

In the last 10 days we have reported multiple cases occurring at VSY, VSL, and VDC.  This pandemic is not over, and Canada is into its fourth wave. I highly encourage employees to get vaccinated as soon as possible. In addition to the health risks posed to themselves and others, it is becoming increasingly clear that there will be real impacts in the future, from travel to frequenting places of business, etc., to those who choose not to get vaccinated.  And just as teamwork builds ships, teamwork will keep us safe — if everybody keeps their focus on the preventative measures of mask-wearing, hand-sanitizing and physical distancing, both in the workplace and beyond, to stop the spread of the virus.

Please continue to complete your self-assessments every day. Report any changes to your health, however minor. If you feel unwell, stay home. If you have any questions, contact our Wellness team immediately (wellness@seaspan.com; 604-990-3316).
