COVID-19 case at VSL and Mandatory Vaccinations

Team,

Yesterday I announced to employees at VSL that we will be implementing a mandatory vaccination policy (VSL COVID-19 Vaccination Policy) at Victoria Shipyards, to align with the federal requirement for all employees and contractor staff accessing federal government workplaces and facilities to be fully vaccinated. The federal government considers the Esquimalt Graving Dock (EGD), where VSL operates, and the Fleet Maintenance Facility, CFB Esquimalt (FMF), where certain VSL employees work, to be “federal workplaces”.

At this time, this Policy does not extend to Vancouver Shipyards, or Vancouver Drydock. However, any Shipyards employees visiting Victoria Shipyards will need to be double vaccinated to attend the site.

In the meantime, all Seaspan Shipyards employees are reminded to submit proof of their vaccination status. The deadline for this is October 31, 2021.   A screen shot or a PDF file of your vaccine passport or picture of your official BC vaccination card can be sent to wellness@seaspan.com
