COVID-19 case at the Operations Centre, VSY

Team,

An employee at the Operations Centre at VSY has tested positive for COVID-19. Symptoms began on Wednesday, December 9 and the individual left work that day and has not returned. They are currently isolating at home with mild symptoms, and we wish them well in their recovery.

I want to thank the individual involved for doing all of the right things and acting promptly when feeling ill. There were no close contacts at any time while the individual was at work. They wore a mask at all times while on site and all interactions were at least six feet apart from others while masks were worn.  Because of this individual’s diligence, we are confident there is very low risk of exposure to other employees. As a precaution, their workspace and any areas they used have been fully cleaned and sanitized.

The start of COVID vaccinations in Canada and BC is encouraging and hopeful news, but there is still a long road ahead of us. Completing the vaccination process will take many months and we must all continue to implement all preventative measures. Please continue to wear a mask, wash or sanitize your hands and physically distance at all times while at work to ensure both you and your co-workers stay healthy.

Also, please follow the model of our colleague. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please stay home, advise your supervisor and seek appropriate medical attention. If you are concerned or have any questions, please contact Tina Craig, Manager of Seaspan Wellness (w: 604-990-3316; c: 778-874-4438) or the Wellness team (e: [email protected]; t: 604-684-1313).

Let’s continue to keep each other safe and healthy for the holidays ahead.
