June 12, 2019 – North Vancouver, BC. This week, Seaspan was recognized by the Port of Vancouver with the 2018 Blue Circle Award for voluntary efforts to conserve energy and reduce emissions. For the second year in a row, Seaspan achieved “Gold Level” status in the Port’s EcoAction Program by incorporating a range of sustainable practices into marine operations:
- Use of shore power for all vessels
- Participation in the ECHO program to support protection of marine mammals
- Participation in Green Marine Certification program
- Operation of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) – Battery hybrid ferries
The Blue Circle Award recognizes companies that go beyond the basic environmental requirements, and Seaspan is proud to support the Port of Vancouver’s vision to be the world’s most sustainable port.
