June 12, 2019 – North Vancouver, BC. This week, Seaspan was recognized by the Port of Vancouver with the 2018 Blue Circle Award for voluntary efforts to conserve energy and reduce emissions. For the second year in a row, Seaspan achieved “Gold Level” status in the Port’s EcoAction Program by incorporating a range of sustainable practices into marine operations:

The Blue Circle Award recognizes companies that go beyond the basic environmental requirements, and Seaspan is proud to support the Port of Vancouver’s vision to be the world’s most sustainable port.

“The EcoAction program allows us to measure our environmental performance and recognize some important, beyond-compliance leadership initiatives, such as converting our Ferries fleet to Hybrid battery/LNG power, fleet wide use of shore power to reduce emissions and participating in efforts to reduce underwater noise impact on whales. ”
-Daryl Lawes, Seaspan Environmental Manager
