Alain Lemay

Vice President, Contracts & Commercial – Vancouver Shipyards

Alain joined Vancouver Shipyards as Vice President, Contracts & Commercial in November 2019.

Alain brings to Seaspan more than 25 years of experience in the infrastructure engineering-construction sector. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President, Commercial at SNC-Lavalin. In that role, he had commercial oversight of project teams delivering multi-billion design-build-finance projects, and bid teams involved in multi-billion project pursuits in the mass transit and complex roads and bridges sectors in North America and Asia. Key recent projects include the Vancouver Evergreen Skytrain Extension, the Toronto Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail System and the New Champlain Bridge in Montreal.

As Vice President, Contracts & Commercial, Alain plays an important role as a member of Seaspan’s Senior Leadership Team. He is responsible for the deployment, implementation and monitoring of commercial resources, tools and processes required to ensure operations and business-related strategies on bids and contracts are carried out efficiently. His accountabilities on inflight projects include prime contract administration, change and claims management, risk management, and close interface with the legal, procurement and project controls teams.

Alain graduated from the University of Montreal, where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce, became a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, and later went on to undertake a Master’s of Science in Information Systems Management.
