Barges and associated assets will be sold to Enercor Energy as Seaspan Marine focuses on core ship assist services
Sept. 3, 2026 — North Vancouver, B.C. — Seaspan Marine (Seaspan) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its petroleum products barging business to Enercor Energy Ltd., an affiliate of Evernorth Marine Group. The sale which remains subject to the completion of customary closing conditions, is inclusive of current customer contracts and vessel assets. A total of five vessels are included in the sale: four oil barges and the Seaspan Raider tugboat.
The transaction sharpens Seaspan Marine’s focus on its core towing and marine transportation services while giving Enercor an established fleet and customer base.
In June, Seaspan announced the sale of its legacy chip and hog barge business division to Hodder. That sale launched Evernorth Marine Group, Hodder’s new market-facing brand.
“This transaction represents an important step in ensuring both businesses are positioned for long-term success. We are proud of the role our oil barge team has played in serving customers safely and reliably over the years, and we are committed to supporting a smooth transition for employees and customers alike,” Jordan Pechie, President of Seaspan Marine, said. “As we sharpen our focus on our core marine transportation and ship assist services, we will continue investing in the people, capabilities and partnerships that underpin our success.”
The transaction will be finalized once certain closing conditions have been met, which is expected to occur over the coming weeks.
