Two Further COVID-19 cases at VSY

Team,

Two further employees at VSY have tested positive for COVID-19 this week.

In both cases the individuals’ last day at work was Wednesday, August 25. Two close contacts have been identified and all the employees are now isolating at home and we wish everyone well in their recovery.

In total this week, 17 cases of COVID-19 have been reported. Following the cluster of cases I informed you of earlier in the week at VSY, we rapid tested another 50 employees on Thursday, August 26. Thankfully none of the employees tested produced a positive result.

The significant increase in positive cases this week at VSY demonstrates how much more contagious the Delta variant is. We must all be on our guard. As we believe that the initial cluster of cases was related to some employees gathered together in a group and in close contact, please refrain from congregating in groups at breaktimes and at lunch, or be very conscious of your physical distancing while you do. At all other times, masking is a good defence, and is mandatory in indoor spaces. I am pleased to see mask wearing compliancy has greatly improved this week — please continue to keep this a priority as you move around the shipyards and offices

Continue to complete your self-assessments every day. Report any changes to your health, however minor. If you feel unwell, stay home. If you have any questions, contact our Wellness team immediately (wellness@seaspan.com; 604-990-3316).
