During the month of March 2014, major construction activities will include continuation of concrete foundation works for the various on-site buildings and structures, steel erection for the various buildings, and the relocation and installation of the various underground site services. These activities will include delivery of ready-mix concrete, steel structures, and the various pipes and materials required for the site services works. Truck traffic to the site is expected to be approximately 60 (sixty) per day during the concrete placement dates.
The in-water construction for the Load Out Pier is substantially complete. Remaining works will be completed from land.
The components for the 80 meter high – 300 tonne Gantry Crane consisting of three main pieces, that two legs and the main girder, along with thousands of small components have arrived from China and have been off-loaded at Vancouver Shipyard.
Assembly and erection will commence in March and will continue over the next several months.
Hours of work on site is typically 7:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday with occasional weekend works required to avoid conflicts with the shipyards operational activities.
