Diversity and Inclusion

WE WORK TO FOSTER A CULTURE THAT IS RESPECTFUL, INCLUSIVE, AND REFLECTIVE OF ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN OUR REGION.

For more than 100 years, Seaspan has been an important part of the development of British Columbia and its industries—and, in return, we strive to make sure that our organization is always evolving and progressing alongside our home province. We want to be a role model for business, and we have the vision and courage to make change.

Seaspan values diversity, and we work to foster a culture that is respectful, inclusive, and reflective of all the people who live in our region. We are committed to employment equity, and to the elimination of barriers to the successful employment of women, Indigenous people, members of visible minority groups, and persons with disabilities.

If you have a passion for the sea, for ships and for building a legacy, we invite you to join our diverse team.

Diversity at Work

Workplace diversity is understanding, accepting and valuing differences between people including those of different races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, disabilities and sexual orientations with differences in education, personalities, skill sets, experiences and knowledge bases.

At Seaspan, we are committed to help each individual bring their best self forward and reach a sense of belonging. Having a connection to an organization, group or team that makes people feel they can be themselves not only results in greater engagement but creativity in the workplace.

Respect For All

At Seaspan, we hope to foster a sense of belonging for all of our people. Inclusive corporate cultures make people feel respected and valued for who they are as an individual or group. Our employees feel a level of supportive energy and commitment from others so that they can do their best at work.

ACCESS Partnership

TRAINING AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society (ACCESS) is one of the most comprehensive Indigenous training providers in Canada, with a variety of employment and training programs and services. Through a modern blend of interdisciplinary programs across industry sectors, ACCESS is dedicated to supporting urban Indigenous people in overcoming employment barriers and finding rewarding career opportunities.

Seaspan is proud to help empower Indigenous youth through culture, achievement, wellness and self-sufficiency. Since 2016, Seaspan has invested more than $4.3 million in the program.

To celebrate our growing partnership with ACCESS, we released a video showcasing some of the incredibly talented and capable students and Seaspan shipbuilders who have joined us through the program.
