In November 2010, Robert joined Seaspan Marine as Senior Vice President. In this leadership role, he oversees Seaspan's marine operations including vessel maintenance, crewing and safety, as well as environmental management for all Seaspan affiliate companies.
His 15-year seagoing career includes four years as Chief Engineer. That was followed by two years as an Engineering Consultant on marine & offshore-related projects in Holland and the UK. Robert established his own Marine Engineering Company in the north of England in 1986, which he operated successfully before joining Teekay Shipping in 2000.
Robert held the leading technical role in the 5000+ employee Teekay organization, with responsibility for new ship construction, as well as maintenance standards and policies for 150 ships in operation globally. During his 8 year tenure, 34 new vessels - oil tankers, LNG/Cs and shuttle tankers - with a total value of $3.5 billion were delivered to the Teekay fleet, and construction contracts were secured for a further 28 vessels. Following Teekay and prior to working at Seaspan, Robert founded RHBC Global Technologies, a company that provides consultancy services to marine, offshore and industrial clients.
